Review Policy

Genre/Format Preferences

I review books of almost every genre so that I can maintain a versatile blog. However, I do not review heavily sexual genres such as erotica or childrens/middle grade books. Nor do I review books that are mostly pictorial such as comics. Currently, I am accepting physical and electronic (.MOBI) copies for review. My favorite genres include historical fiction and literary fiction.

Requesting a Review

You can easily contact me via my form here. If I am interested in your book, you will surely have a response from me. Keep in mind, that requesting a review does not guarantee that I will consent to reviewing it, nor does my acceptance of a book mean that I will review it. If you have a date that you want the review posted, kindly inform me in your request so that I can prepare. Time restraints, life emergencies and general discomfort can lead me to decline a request or to not write a review. 

Review Format

I like to keep my reviews well-formatted for visual appeal and organization. To make the post pertinent and attractive, I ensure that the review has relevant images (such as the book cover). Blurbs and short author bios are also mandatory elements of my reviews. There may be instances where the author must send these elements if they are not available online. Excerpts can also be posted.

Review Style

My reviews are my personal, honest remarks. I do not solely review based on emotional whims. I take time to consider literary elements such as characterization, plot and style. I prefer not be too in-depth with certain aspects such as plot, because I do not want to provide a summary. Here are examples of my reviews here.

Rating System

Below is my Goodreads-esque rating system, which consists of my bird avatar and short descriptions:

The book was a disgrace. It was poorly developed and saturated with flaws.

Though I could barely enjoy it, it did have qualities that made me persevere. It was okay.

 It certainly had deficiencies, but nothing too major. I still liked it. 

This book was very enjoyable and developed. I really liked it. It had few flaws.

What an awesome contribution to Literature! I love it, and highly recommend.

Cross-posting

If an author wishes me to cross-post on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, The Book Depository, or Smashwords, I will gladly submit a review. All my reviews are posted on Goodreads.
