Giveaway + Featured Book Blogger, #3: Chrystal from Snowdrop Dreams of Books

You are about to learn more about a really awesome book blogger. Are you ready?

Please welcome, Chrystal from Snowdrop Dreams of Books - a great book blogging friend of mine!

To celebrate her visit and her awesomeness, I will be giving away...
This Is Not a Test by Courtney Summers - one of Chrystal's favorite books!

On Chrystal + Reading

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Chrystal and I am a bookaholic, a wannabe photographer, a sister, a friend, a daughter, an aunt, a notorious list maker, a DIY gal, a jeopardy fanatic, a kitty mommy, a proud Canadian, a crafter, and a dreamer.

My love of reading would come from my mother. When I was young I really disliked reading and it was my Mom who actually helped me get into reading and excel with school. Every weekend she would take us to the library where we would pick out three books each. Eventually, as I got older, I would go there by myself and spend hours reading there and looking for just the right book to bring home. I don't think I've been seen without a book since. Thanks Mom and I miss you terribly.

2. What is your favorite genre? Why?I will read anything that is put in front of me. My favourite genres are YA, paranormal/urban fantasy, chick lit/romance, dystopian/post-apocalyptic and mystery. If I really have to pick just one it would be dystopian/post-apocalyptic because I love seeing how people adapt and fight to survive.

3. What book is at the top of your wishlist?

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
(it was my Mom's favourite book and I've never read it)
Splintered by AG Howard

On Chrystal + Blogging

5. How long have you been blogging? What have you learnt?
I have been blogging since July 2010. I have learned that I need to read what I enjoy, not to say yes to every book offered to me, that the internet can be an amazing way to meet new people with the same passions and to not let the book blogging take the fun out of reading.

6. What is your favorite aspect of blogging? What are the downers?
+ Meeting new people, finding out about books I might have missed if not for reading other peoples blogs and chatting with authors.
- Not enough minutes in the day to get everything done (reading, blogging, work and real life), system problems with Blogger and the drama that happens from time to time.

7. Describe your blog in a short sentence. No run-ons. :P
Canadian reader with an eclectic taste in books.

8. Anything you want to ask the readers?
Suggest two books for me to check out: one YA and one adult. Why should I read them?

It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside. When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

  2. For YA, I'd say For Darkness Shows the Stars or The Diviners--two amazing YAs from last year.
I don't really read Adult, but I can recommend, if you some philosophical books, Man's Search For Meaning--that book had such a huge impact on me.

  9. You've probably already read it, but my YA selection is Cinder- the scifi and fairy tale elements mesh perfectly and the cast is lovely.
For adult, I'm going to recommend a manga called Solanin. It's everything that the 'new adult' category promises to be, but (imo) has yet to deliver on. In sum: perfection.

  13. I love this blog feature :) We book bloggers really do spend an insane amount of time on these blogs and it is a lot of fun and also a big challenge.

"Suggest two books for me to check out: one YA and one adult. Why should I read them?"

Aye I'm not sure about an adult title...what about The Rose Hotel by Rahimeh Andilibian. I don't know if it really falls into any one category but it's been getting excellent reviews on amazon and I'm really thinking this book will go places :)

For YA the Legend series by Marie Lu has been fantastic. The second book in the series is just coming out, I read the ARC and spend a lot of time sobbing over it, but if a book can do that much to my emotions you know it has something there.

  14. For the young adult book, I'd suggest The Graveyard Book (I really enjoyed it. It's not a romance, but a nice easy read that is new and different). As for the adult book, romance all the way in "The Gamble" by Kristen Ashley :P

  15. For YA, Strange Angels series by Lili St. Crow (one of my fave series, Dru kicksbutt and I just love Graves). And for Adult, Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews (awesome series, I'll read anything by Ilona Andrews. Kate is strong and kicks major butt and all the characters and the world are just so interesting) Thanks for the great giveaway!

  16. Have you read Eve by Anna Carey for YA? And for adult, hmm, if you want to read Gone With the Wind, you should also read Scarlett, the "sequel" to it. I loved them both!

  17. I really loved Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins for YA. Sweet Peril is one of my most anticipated books of 2013. For adults, I would recommend On the Island (which is already on the list)! It was just so good! Water for Elephants is great too. Beautiful characters and I could imagine the circus so clearly from the beautiful writing. Thanks for the chance to win! Haven't read this one yet!
