You may have noticed the new design my blog is getting. It is way different from my other designs. I am happy with that way it is coming out so far, and I cannot wait until it is 100% complete, so I can sit back and enjoy it.
This makeover has me quite tired. I have been peeling my eyes over various websites in order to find tweaks for my new blog design. I have now realized that with a little research, inspiration and practice, designing a blog is not as hard as it is often portrayed.
The motive for this self-design was that the fact that I cannot hire a designer. Either a designer would put me on a waiting list for March 2013, or their prices were out of this world. Don't get me wrong, graphic and web design is no easy task. Though it is a tedious job, I do think that many designers expect prices that are not worth it. I found a directory with tons of Blogger designers, and for a lot of them, the prices of their services were inversely proportional to the quality of their work.
I am proud of my little design that is coming to life. I realized that my older design was very dull. Yes, a lot of people said it was "cute", but I wanted it to look more refined. I still have a lot more to do. I need a rating scale, an emblem, a button, a favicon, an About Me widget, sidebar images, a matching signature, and a post divider. So please, bear with me. I am no professional, so it will take it a bit longer.
If you have been following my blog since its August incipience, you will see how I learned more, especially when it comes to coding. To end off this post, here's a look at the evolution of my blog design via its previous headers:

You weigh in:
What do you think about my latest blog design? What do you think of blog design, in general?

It looks fantastic! I love the colors and how organized it looks!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Cherie! The hardest part was deciding on a palette.
DeleteWhere did the owl go? It was my favorite part of your blog, but changes are good. I'm getting my blog done from In Between Designs (http://inbetweendesignstudio.blogspot.com/), and her prices are very reasonable. You should check her website for future makeovers. This one's coming out pretty well.
ReplyDeleteHey, Aman. Thanks so much for your input. I miss the owl too, but I decided that I had to stop forcing him into my designs. XD My family misses him too. Hmm.
DeleteAnd thanks for the recommendation. I did not visit this site yet. The prices are so cheap. I will explore it some more.
I always loved your owl header, but honestly I adore this colourful header with matching icons. I'm actually a little jealous of how gorgeous it is. :) I would love to have something so simple yet refined like that one day. Perhaps when I have time I will update mine again in 2013. I need to learn a lot more about coding and such first though. I cannot wait to see how the rest of your blog turns out when all the changes are made. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks so much Chrystal. I am glad for this feedback, it is really inspiring me to do more. It does take a lot of time to do, and with practice (which I need more of), you can make that design you want. If you ever need help, I am here. Thanks for your support!
